EVERYDAY CARE
-
Hand wash with soap and hot water using a gentle scrub sponge. Allow to air dry standing upright.
Never soak or wash your olive wood spoon, or any wooden utensils, in the dishwasher. The excessive heat and water will force swelling of the wood, causing cracks and irreversible dryness.

SEASONAL CLEANING
This method works for all of your wooden utensils and cutting boards. We suggest this deep clean at the start of every season.
-
Gently dampen your wooden utensils with hot water and then lay on a cutting board or old kitchen towel.
-
Sprinkle with salt (table or sea salt will do). Using the cut side of a halved lemon, scrub the salt around every part of your olive wood spoon to exfoliate. The salt and lemon remove any particles, splinters and odors.
-
Rinse with hot water and allow to air dry completely.
-
Once dry, use an old towel or just your hands to lightly rub oil (olive, walnut or linseed) into your wooden spoon to rehydrate and polish. Remove any excess oil and let dry overnight before using.
If you cook regularly or notice your wooden utensils are still dry, this process may be used monthly.
