SHIPPING & RETURNS

ORDER CONFIRMATION

Once an order is placed with a confirmation, it can not be edited or altered in any way and can not be refunded due to these errors. Please review your billing and shipping information prior to submitting your order to avoid any delays or inaccurate shipments.

SHIPPING TIME

Please allow 2 business days for order processing. Once shipped, most shipments will arrive within 3-5 business days, but may take longer based on the carriers schedule which we have no control over. Tracking will be sent directly to your inbox once the package has shipped. Didn’t receive your order? Please email hello@eliaelia.co for support.

REFUND POLICY

Due to the edible nature of our products, we do not accept returns or offer refunds. If you have encountered damage during shipment, please provide photos of the shipping label, damaged product in the shipping box and the outer condition of the shipping box to hello@eliaelia.co and we will rectify the situation immediately! We appreciate your understanding and patience with the shipping process.

OLIVE OIL, REALLY? ABSOLUTELY!

ELIA believes that extra virgin olive oil is a more luxurious option compared to butter or other oils. A beautiful blend of two Greek olives create our luscious organic extra virgin olive oil, included with every baking mix. From the Peloponnese region of Greece, blended in just the right ratio to create a sophisticated flavor. Simply two varieties of olives and nothing else for the purest oil. This provides a more delicate top note with a light peppery (in a good way) finish.

WHAT IF I DO NOT HAVE AN 8" CAKE PAN?

Our baking mixes were designed with convenience and flexibility in mind. Always use what you have at home first. This is our favorite cake pan to use. The prefect size and shape for baking an elegant cake for serving. An 8" square pan is a perfect substitute. Whatever you choose as a vessel, please do not use a non-stick pan (cakes do not rise well in non-stick) or pie pan.

Here are a few alternative pan options, keeping in mind you will need to adjust the baking time accordingly:

PLANT-BASED SUBSTITUTIONS

HOW TO MAKE A FLAX EGG: Combine 1 TBS ground Flaxseed with 3 TBS of cool water. Stir and let sit for 5 minutes. Makes 1 egg. (Double this for our cake mixes to make 2 “eggs”)

HOW TO MAKE BUTTERMILK: For our cake mixes, we highly recommend buttermilk, but understand most do not stock this at home regularly. It is so easy to make your own starting with a whole milk base! Simply add 1 TBS of Vinegar (white or apple cider) or 1 TBS FRESH Lemon Juice to 1 cup of Whole Milk (or any non dairy alternative). Stir and let sit for 10 minutes and you have buttermilk.

I DO NOT HAVE BUTTERMILK OR MILKS - WHAT CAN I SUBSTITUTE?

You can use buttermilk OR whole milk (or any plant-based milk) when baking an ELIA cake. If you do not have any of those options, our olive oil cake mixes bake beautifully when the buttermilk/milk is substituted with yogurt or sour cream (optional: add 1/4 cup of water to loosen to a buttermilk like texture). They will bake slightly denser with this substitution but be incredibly moist and delicious.

You can also make your own buttermilk at home. Simply combine 1 cup (8 oz) and 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice or white vinegar - mix and let sit until thickened, about 5 minutes.

STORAGE & FREEZING INSTRUCTIONS

Yes, our olive oil cakes are even better the day after being baked! This gives the cake a chance to absorb that beautiful olive oil allowing the flavor and texture to develop day after day.

Store wrapped airtight at room temperature (plastic wrap is best, but a snug glass container is also great). Best enjoyed within 4 days. Freezes well up to 2 months: wrap portioned cake thrice in plastic wrap and freeze.Our beautiful cakes make approximately 8-12 servings. If you find yourself with extra, the freezer is a perfect place of storage for a later date. Simply portion as you like, but leaving as large as possible is best, and triple wrap in snug-fitting plastic wrap. Yes, triple wrap - this is the key to ensure there is a thick layer to protect from air and freezer burn. Label and date and enjoy within 3 months.

To thaw, simply remove from the freezer and let the cake come to room temperature for at least 4 hours or overnight.

The beauty of our cake mixes is that they are perfectly balanced in flavor without being overly sweet. This Mediterranean style of cake is meant to be an anytime kind of bite. With coffee or tea, a breakfast cake or glazed and frosted for a sweeter dessert. Our flavors were created to be delicate and to compliment each other without intense sweetness like other cake mixes. ELIA is a new way to cake for the sophisticated palate.

There is no other option outside of ultra premium, non-gmo, organic. No exceptions, ever. While the organic badge is not important to us, we tirelessly vet our sources. Whether sourced from the Mediterranean or locally in the States, we promise that we have scoured the world for the utmost perfect ingredients to create a product that is truly outstanding where you can taste the difference.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

We do not have a storefront or bakery, but we are based in Chicago.

EARTH CONSCIOUS PACKAGING

Our boxes are made with 100% post-consumer recylced paper, printed using vegetable-based ink and made using solar power. Our olive oil bottles are BPA-free plastic. Please recycle the box and bottle after use.

While our cake mix pouches are not yet eco-friendly, we are constantly challenging the industry for more earth-conscious options!

HOW TO REUSE THE OLIVE OIL BOTTLE

While it may be tricky to remove every drop of olive oil from the bottle, we see it as an opportunity. Use the bottle to make a single serving vinaigrette - perfect for a packed lunch. Here is our favorite recipe - just add straight to the bottle and shake:
2tsp fresh Lemon Juice
1/2 tsp Dijon Mustard
Pinch of Salt
Pinch of Pepper
Pinch of Garlic Powder
Pinch of dried Oregano

OUR DESIGN INSPIRATION

From inception, our goal was to create a beautiful package that speaks to design lovers and sophisticated adults with discerning taste. We noticed the baking mixes on the market were all marketed toward children with bright, primary colors that did not reflect the ingredients they promised inside. ELIA features the highest possible quality, non-gmo and organic ingredients, so it is only natural that our packaging is the same.

We wanted to design a box mix so pretty, you will want to leave it on your counter. Inspired by the Mediterranean, we designed each package as an homage to the natural earthenware of Greece. Amphora - vessels that carried olive oil, wine and milk across the seas of the Mediterranean.
